Synopsis

This module will describe the fundamental knowledge of genetic and its association with human physical performance.

Objective

The objective of this course is to provide basic knowledge with regard to the concept of genetics in human physical performance.

Learning Outcome

At the end of the course student will be able to:

1. understand the concept of genetics in human physical performance.

2. describe the different forms of inheritance patterns and identify these in genetic data in human physical performance.

Dr. Hazwani Ahmad Yusof @ Hanafi was born in June 1985 in Kelantan, Malaysia. She received Bachelor of Science with Honors (Genetics) in August 2007 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and completed Master of Science (Sports Science) in August 2009 from Universiti Sains Malaysia. In 2016, she completed PhD through the Cotutelle program between Universiti Sains Malaysia and the University of Sydney, Australia where she was awarded with two PhD (Genomics, Cancer) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and PhD (Health Sciences) from the University of Sydney, Australia. She is currently appointed as the Head of Department of Community Health and Head of Clinical Exercise Service in the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She is also one of the Executive Board Member of Asian Council of Exercise & Sports. Dr. Hazwani has a passion for research related to sports science, sports genetics, physical activity, and health sciences.
