Lateral Cephalometric in Orthodontics
Synopsis
To provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in lateral cephalometric imaging, including its indications, analysis methods, and both manual and digital tracing techniques. The course is ideal for dental students, dental practitioners and orthodontists who wish to deepen their knowledge and skills in cephalometric tracing and analysis. It is an experience not commonly available in general clinics, but typically found in specialized orthodontic settings. This module will be delivered by live sessions on the 29th and 30th July 2025, 2-5pm (Malaysia time), or you can watch the recorded sessions at your convenience. Certificate will be issued according to the enrolment plan.
Objective
Learning Outcome
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the types of routine radiographs used in orthodontic assessment and explain their specific clinical indications.
2. Describe the principles of cephalometric radiography, including standard anatomical landmarks, reference planes, and proper patient positioning techniques.
3. Recognize common errors associated with cephalometric radiographic acquisition and analysis, and suggest strategies to minimize them.
4. Understand the process of manual cephalometric tracing using conventional tracing tools, and interpret key cephalometric measurements relevant to orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in digital cephalometric tracing using WebCeph software, including image calibration, landmark identification, and automated analysis.
6. Apply cephalometric analysis results in orthodontic case assessments to support clinical decision-making.
