Analytical Toxicology
Synopsis
The course covers the fundamental aspects of analytical toxicology and its applications, including the entire range of qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical techniques used in sample preparation, separation, assay calibration, detection and identification, and quantification for toxicological research and testing. Various types of modern analytical instrumentation (spectrophotometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, mass spectrometry) and sample preparation techniques (solid, liquid and volatile compounds) will be introduced in this course. The course will also discuss the data interpretation derived from the analytical instrument. The course will introduce the method development and validation procedure, which are relevant to the chemical industries and related regulatory agencies. The module will be delivered as blended learning that involves theoretical components delivered through an online interface and practical sessions delivered face-to-face as a separate module (elective module). Additional costs may be applied for the elective module. Candidates may opt not to enrol in the hands-on session by taking only online classes, in which the certificate will be issued according to the enrolment plan.
